Jared Kirby Appointed Deputy Insurance Commissioner

Des Moines, Iowa – Iowa Insurance Commissioner Doug Ommen today announced that Jared Kirby has been appointed as Deputy Insurance Commissioner for Market Regulation.

“The Iowa Insurance Division takes great pride in helping Iowans with questions or concerns regarding their insurance coverage and their investments.  I’m pleased to announce that Jared will take on an even greater leadership role that will be of great benefit to Iowans,” Ommen said.  “As the recent ‘This Is Iowa’ campaign shows, Iowa is very attractive to those looking for a great place to live and work.  I’m pleased to be able to keep someone of Jared’s talent level right here working for Iowans.”

As Deputy Insurance Commissioner, Kirby will lead the Iowa Insurance Division’s Market Regulation, Fraud, Consumer Advocacy Office, and Enforcement Bureaus.  He will also be a strong voice for Iowa at the National Association for Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and the  North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA).

“I am honored to serve in this capacity.  The work we do at the Iowa Insurance Division is very rewarding,” Kirby said.  “I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead teams that help Iowans better understand their insurance policies and who also investigate and prosecute insurance and securities fraud.  This public service is beneficial to both Iowa consumers and businesses.”

Kirby has served as a law enforcement officer in the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau since 2006, leading the Fraud Bureau as Fraud Bureau Chief since 2014.  He has also served the Iowa Insurance Division as Market Regulation Bureau Supervisor since January 2017 and Consumer Advocacy Office Supervisor since March 2019.  Kirby previously served as a police officer for the Centerville and Johnston police departments.
